Carmel Doyle - Family and MatrimonialCarmel Doyle, a partner in our Matrimonial Department, was born in Sheffield in 1963. She was brought up in the Grenoside area of the city and attended Notre Dame School from where she won a place at Keele University to study Law and Politics. Graduating with a 2:2 Honours degree Carmel went on to the College of Law at Chester to sit and pass the Solicitors final examinations.

Carmel joined the firm of Laitner & Smythe as a trainee and qualified as a Solicitor in 1988. She became a partner in Tofields in 1991.

Carmel concentrates on the firm's family mediation unit which is known as Focus and which provides legally aided family mediation under contract to the Legal Services Commission. She is a member of the Law Society's family law panel.

Carmel is married with two young children. As if trying to juggle the demands of a young family and a full time professional career are not enough, Carmel and her husband have been pouring their energies into renovating their 17th Century cottage on the outskirts of Sheffield, a project which she has almost now completed.

When time permits (which is virtually never) Carmel's other interests include playing Netball, watching cricket, going to concerts and trying to persuade her husband Tim to do some gardening.
